Certified Communications Training

The certified communications training is available for admins who already received basic training in sending USF Connect emails, [USF] emails (via iModules), managing calendar items, managing social media, and editing web pages in Ektron.

The certified training focuses on how to use a wide variety of channels to communicate your message effectively, and is especially helpful to those of you who promote events to an on-campus audience of faculty, staff and students. The certificate training includes the following sessions:

1. Mastering the E-Comm Suite
The certificate training sessions start with three opportunities for advanced hands-on training in how to best promote your upcoming event on campus, using the full e-comm suite of USF calendar, social media items, and email outreach. The training will also include an introduction to photo editing for web optimization.
  • Bring to the training: One upcoming (or past) event organized by your office or department to use as a hands-on practice case
  • Requirements: Basic training and admin access to USF Calendar, USF Connect emails, iModules emails, and the official social media venues of your office or department.
  • Note: You only have to go through one of the three "Mastering the E-Comm Suite" training sessions and hand in the assignment that you will receive as a part of the session to earn your e-communications certificate.

2. Posters and Flyers for Campus Bulletin Boards
Learn how to promote your event correctly and efficiently by creating an event poster and/or flyer for campus bulletin boards. Learn how to use a correctly branded Word template for your office or department, and the steps to get the posters up on bulletin boards in time for your event.
  • Bring to the training: One upcoming (or past) event organized by your office or department to use as a hands-on practice case
  • Requirements: No requirements needed.
  • Note: Take this training and hand in the assignment that you will receive at the training in order to earn your poster communications certificate.

3. Advanced Web Communications: Make Your Website Work for You
All communications end up involving your website at some point — users will either start or end up at your website looking for more information. Is your website working for you? Is it doing all it can to tell your story? Learn how to bring your website to life using advanced web techniques and tricks. Web Communications and Services will provide you with insights and best practice on how to optimize your site for effective, consistent communication on all types of screens.
  • Bring to the training: Any specific questions or design problems you have regarding your website
  • Requirements: Basic and advanced training in Ektron
