Douglas M. Raskin ’87 Memorial Scholarship
Established by classmates and friends of Douglas Michael Raskin ’87, who died in 1994 at the age of 33 while climbing Mount Fuji in Japan. The scholarship is awarded to the law student who best exemplifies a spirit of adventure, sense of humor, love of life, and caring for others. THIS AWARD WILL BE $1,500 TO ONE STUDENT.

Applications must be completed online by 5 p.m., April 25th, 2014.


Only USF law students with financial need, equal to or more than the award amount, and a FAFSA on file may apply for an award from the alumni-funded scholarships.  

Applications must be completed online by 5 p.m., April 25th, 2014. Applications are incomplete if any necessary documents are missing, and could result in disqualification. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure their application is received in its entirety by the deadline.


Submit the following as one PDF file through the upload link below. Documents should be organized in the order listed:
  1. Completed and signed scholarship application form, found here.
  2. Law School transcript (USFConnect version accepted)
  3. Resume with special honors and awards, work history, and community activities.
  4. Scholarship essay:  
    • Two-page typed letter addressing how the applicant’s own life adheres to the principles that were important to Doug: past travel experiences and adventure; interest in helping others; participation in athletics and recreational activities, importance of friends and family, and scholastic achievement.
