John Flynn Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of John Flynn, who was an alumnus of Stanford and a distinguished member of the San Francisco Maritime Bar. The scholarship will be awarded to a USF School of Law student with an interest in maritime law. You must be a full-time student for this award. THIS AWARD WILL BE $1,800 TO ONE STUDENT.

Applications must be completed online by 5 p.m., April 25th, 2014.


Only USF law students with financial need, equal to or more than the award amount, and a FAFSA on file may apply for an award from the alumni-funded scholarships.  

Applications must be completed online by 5 p.m., April 25th, 2014. Applications are incomplete if any necessary documents are missing, and could result in disqualification. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure their application is received in its entirety by the deadline. 


Submit the following as one PDF file through the upload link below. Documents should be organized in the order listed:
  1. Completed and signed scholarship application form, found here.
  2. Law School transcript (USFConnect version accepted)
  3. Resume with special honors and awards, work history, and community activities.
  4. Scholarship essay:  
    • One-page, typed 250-word essay demonstrating applicant’s interest in maritime law.
